Purpose of the Association


The Association was created by statute and is subject to regulatory supervision of the Department of Insurance. The purpose of the Association is to make automobile bodily injury and property damage liability insurance required by the Texas Motor Vehicle Safety Responsibility Act available to eligible applicants, subject to the rules of the Association.

The Association has established procedures for the equitable distribution of applications for insurance to be assigned to insurance companies. All insurance companies (except ineligible county mutuals) authorized to write motor vehicle liability policies in the State of Texas must be members of the Association and participate in its operation.

The Association is governed by Chapter 2151 , Texas Insurance Code, and its Plan of Operation, which has been approved by the Commissioner of Insurance.

Mailing an EASi Application

To mail an EASi Application, the application should be mailed to the following address, which is also listed on the top of the application for insurance:

P. O. Box 149144
Austin, TX 78714-9144

Please be sure to include the following:

  • Original signed copy of the application. Do not send the draft copy of the application, since this copy has not been submitted and accepted for the binding of coverage

  • Filing Fee, if required, for the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). This must be a separate check or money order from the down payment, and should be made payable to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Include the fee only if you want TAIPA to file the SR-22 with the DPS
