Guidelines for Hand-Delivered ("Walk-In") Applications

Applications may be hand-delivered to TAIPA, instead of being mailed. Applications hand-delivered to TAIPA will have coverage bound effective at 12:01 A.M. the following day.
For hand-delivered ("walk-in") applications, please remember to bring the following:

• 2 copies of the application.
• Down payment check or money order payable to Texas Automobile Insurance Plan Association (TAIPA). (TAIPA does NOT accept cash).
• Filing fee, if required, for the Texas Department of Public Safety. This must be a separate check or money order from the down payment, and should be made payable to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
• The company copy (green) of the E.S.P. binder form, if the application was electronically bound.

Applicants planning to file SR-22 forms with the Department of Public Safety should allow one hour for processing in our office and travel time to get to DPS. The DPS normal office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. We recommend you call the Safety Responsibility Department of DPS at 512-424-2600 to verify hours.
